| Before you app |
| Applications are always open, but are processed every other Saturday. You can apply for any character from any canon as an OU or AU. You can also apply for an OCs. Be sure to copy the correct form below when you go to write your app. Currently there can be only one version of each character within the Bastion. That character can be either OU or AU. This is subject to change at a later date. The character limit is currently three. You can app up to two characters from the same canon, so long as the characters do not interact in canon and would not interact within the game. Exceptions to this rule will be allowed for special cases, so if you think you have a possible exception please contact a mod about it. If you would like to app a fourth character, you must have passed the previous two ACs in order to do so. If you did not pass the previous two ACs, then we will reject your application. Apps will be read in the order they are posted. If two people app the same character, we will make a decision on the first application before reading the second. The only exception to this rule is in the case of a reserve, where we will read the app from whoever has the reserve first. There are no app challenges. Please read the rules, FAQ, and setting pages before applying. Also be sure to check the reserves page and taken page. Please finish your app before posting. Once you are finished, post your application here. If you need more than one comment to post it, then respond to your first comment to finish your application. If your application is accepted, be sure to read all the information and follow all of the steps in the acceptance post. If we ask you for revisions, you will have 72 hours to post those revisions. If you are rejected, you must wait two weeks before applying again. As a note, OCs will be held to high standards. Do not skimp on details in any section of the application if you are planning to app an OC. |

Date: 2013-04-19 11:48 am (UTC)Thank you for applying at The Bastion. Before we can accept you, there are a few points we need clarified.
- In thus AU, who resurrects Tarqaron? You mentioned Duke (Knight) going there, but not who resurrected it. Be sure to include Duke (Knight)'s reaction to this, especially if it is Duke (Hermit) is the one who does it.
- You say that Duke (Knight) does not know the reason why Duke (Hermit) vanished. Given that she worked with her brother and Elucifur, and that the twins got along well enough to switch places with each other, we feel it would not be reasonable for her to not know about Elucifur's death and her brother's withdrawal. You have a couple choices on how to handle this revision request:
1 - Change it so that Duke (Knight) does know about what happened to Elucifur, and make alterations to your application based on that. It doesn't have to be a dramatic change from what you already have, but there should be some change based on this information, especially since it affected her brother so much.
2 - Better explain why Duke (Knight) doesn't know about the betrayal. We feel that Duke (Hermit) would try to warn Duke (Knight) not to trust humans, based on their bond as twins, so something needs to have prevented that. Either the messages were too cryptic, or they were intercepted, or something else along those lines.
- Depending on the changes you make to the above two points, you may need to include some more information about the relationship between the two Dukes. Duke in canon is pretty much an antagonist of the game, and if Duke (Hermit) is following that path, then we need some explanation on Duke (Knight)'s feelings about that.
- We are curious about if anyone has found out about the twin switch, and how they and Duke (Knight) have reacted to that. Since she has worked so hard to protect her identity, it would be a serious event if someone found out. At the very least, someone who would have seen both Dukes should have had the chance to notice something was up, especially if Duke (Hermit) doesn't dress like a girl to appear to be the female twin. You are not required to have anyone figure it out, but if you are going to go with nobody finding out the truth about Duke (Knight)'s gender please say so.

Date: 2013-04-20 01:37 am (UTC)> Knight doesn't fully know about what happened with Elucifur and Hermit, particularly because she wasn't really aware of the strength of their relationship (even if there was a inkling that 'eloped with' was probably far more accurate than her parents thought when they used it.) He had all but cut off contact prior to the Great War, but during those 2-3 years were hectic and spent trying not to lose more cities and lives to angry Entelexeia. The messages from her brother were cryptic enough to keep her wary, but not quite certain as of why, as Hermit wasn't sure if these messages would be intercepted and how much danger that blandly stating what he'd done could put on his twin. She does start poking around, but mostly as a side study to working out problems within the Empire
> What truly clicks all the things together is the rise of Tarqaron and Brave Vesperia's announcement that it was Hermit-or at least, the Duke that wasn't in the knights. It was so far out of her expected actions for her brother that it made hints and whispers make a great deal more of sense. Anger and sadness were the primary reactions - why the hell had he thought that (Tarqaron, Life-Force stealing Formula) was a good idea, why didn't he try talking to her. She grew to be of the opinion, with talking to Brave Vesperia and the little details they learned that she hadn't been able to find, that the Empire 'broke' her twin, so a good amount of anger was directed at whoever had done that- and more need to be up there so she could talk him down and then go hunt down whoever had.
> Brave Vesperia would figure out the truth, as they end up having to kill Hermit, and Knight is most upset about this and serves as another 'boss fight' (much to the Guild's dismay, this is actually a 'bad end' Vesperia-). Alexei may have had some suspicions, but no one else knew Knight long enough/close enough to get beyond the opinion of "that is a very androgynous guy". Yes, Hermit didn't dress like a lady (no dresses), but he also had a fairly light male/deep lady's voice like Knight, and kept long hair and the coat that hugs awkward ways. Knight wears the "male" version of the uniform, and uses postures of fairly assertive males to help keep her cover.
