Application

Before you app
Applications are always open, but are processed every other Saturday. You can apply for any character from any canon as an OU or AU. You can also apply for an OCs. Be sure to copy the correct form below when you go to write your app.

Currently there can be only one version of each character within the Bastion. That character can be either OU or AU. This is subject to change at a later date.

The character limit is currently three. You can app up to two characters from the same canon, so long as the characters do not interact in canon and would not interact within the game. Exceptions to this rule will be allowed for special cases, so if you think you have a possible exception please contact a mod about it.

If you would like to app a fourth character, you must have passed the previous two ACs in order to do so. If you did not pass the previous two ACs, then we will reject your application.

Apps will be read in the order they are posted. If two people app the same character, we will make a decision on the first application before reading the second. The only exception to this rule is in the case of a reserve, where we will read the app from whoever has the reserve first. There are no app challenges.

Please read the rules, FAQ, and setting pages before applying. Also be sure to check the reserves page and taken page.

Please finish your app before posting. Once you are finished, post your application here. If you need more than one comment to post it, then respond to your first comment to finish your application.

If your application is accepted, be sure to read all the information and follow all of the steps in the acceptance post. If we ask you for revisions, you will have 72 hours to post those revisions. If you are rejected, you must wait two weeks before applying again.

As a note, OCs will be held to high standards. Do not skimp on details in any section of the application if you are planning to app an OC.

Application: OU

Player name: whatever name you want to go by OOCly
Age: 17 and up please!
Contact: A personal journal, a plurk name, an email, whatever. We just need some way to contact you.
Other characters: Please list all the characters you currently play.

Character name:
Series: If there is more than one version of canon, please specify which one you will be playing from.
Canon point: Please keep in mind that there is no way to canon-update your character when you choose a canon point to take them from.
Summary: Sum up the character's history and personality. This doesn't have to be long, a few paragraphs should be fine.
Powers: If your character has canon powers, please describe them and how they will be changing to fit within the setting. More information on powers can be found here.
Entry: How will your character be entering the game? They can either find their way to the Bastion on their own, or they can be found on the Skyway by someone else. This is not a sample! This is to tell us if your character will need to be rescued from the Skyway, so we can arrange that. Don't put the day of entry in your app, we will do that for you.

Okay, hopefully I've caught everything and fixed properly. If not, lemme know, and I'll get right on it immediately. (Also, let's try posting the comment WITHOUT a text document word-wrap...)

I'm not comfortable omitting the moogle dances from Colin's character. Although they seem out of place, they're an important part of his family history, even if they're non-existent in the posted personal history. If they seem incompatible with the character, I'm more than willing to make them non-functional in the Bastion, but Colin's family and history is important to who he is. I can amend the personal history if necessary to show where this came from.

Summary: One word describes Colin above all else: Arrogant. Colin knows that he's the best at what he does, and that he can easily be the best at just about anything else he puts his mind to. He doesn't lord this self-superiority over others, but neither does he make much of an effort to hide it. This also drives him to put his all into his work, as anything worth doing is worth doing exceptionally. Even with this cockiness, Colin still strives to be the good man that his parents raised him to be, and he's happy to help nearly anyone in need if he can. Additionally, he has a very warm personality, seeing no reason to be adverserial when being polite and welcoming can often make situations move much smoother. Just because he thinks he's better than everyone doesn't mean he can't appreciate other people. In fact, Colin places his friends and family very high in the heirarchy of his priorities.

In spite of his friendliness, Colin is much more at home at a work bench or behind a computer than he is in a conversation. He enjoys the company of others, but once he gets engrossed in his work, his social skills degrade considerably. To Colin, keeping things working properly and efficiently is of paramount importance, and social niceties mean nothing if they get in the way of making things work. Furthermore, while Colin is perfectly willing and even eager to hear differing opinions from his own, directly challenging him is a surefire way of seeing the worst of his arrogance. If something seems likely to unnecessarily upset the order of things, including challenging his handling of a situation without good reason, he will strive to correct it as quickly and efficiently as possible. But if Colin can be shown that he's wrong, he will be grateful for the demonstration. Keeping himself accurate and efficient is just as important to him as anything else.

Other: Colin's arrival after the calamity will take place while he is on an away-mission in an alternate dimension away from his own. Because of this, Colin will arrive with the following supplies.

One medkit, containing a limited quantity of advanced medical supplies for basic treatment and limited emergency treatment: Dermal regenerator, anti-biotic nanotech, anti-venom nanotech, anti-burn nanotech, stimulants, tranquilizers, disinfectant gel, and bandages. The medkit has enough of each supply for two uses, except for the disinfectant gel, which has sufficient quantities for twenty small applications, and the dermal regenerator, which is an energy system capable of being recharged. The dermal regenerator is used to close small wounds, cuts, and scrapes. Larger wounds are beyond its capacity.

One standard issue plasma pistol, a highly destructive energy weapon. Upon reaching the Bastion, Colin will quickly dismantle this for spare parts, as it serves no use other than completely burning a target to ash.

Six sensor beacons. Colin's job on the mission was to configure a scanning array to isolate temporal disturbances. The sensor beacons are primed to detect temporal anomalies, however without power and the central sensor control unit, these will be useless except for spare parts.

One personal communicator, this will be useless as it will be the only communicator to use its communication protocols and cannot be repurposed to more primitive channels, but Colin won't dismantle it for parts since any Corsican rescue will try to contact him through it.

One Data Pad. Essentially a tablet PC constructed from advanced materials, this has Colin's mission details on it. It has extensive data storage abilities, and Colin can easily configure it to display any of the files stored in his workstation.

Additionally, Colin will have several personal items on him.

Colin's personal toolkit, he never goes anywhere without this. It contains basic, albeit advanced, tools, as well as a replicator tool capable of creating any number of other small tools from pre-programmed specifications. It also contains several cables and adapters for use with Colin's workstation and neural uplink port.

Colin's bomber jacket, probably the only vanity item he owns that he is actually possessive of. It was a gift from his wife, and is made of naturally shed Shadow Dragon scales. It can repel small arms with ease, protects Colin from life and soul draining attacks, and is quite warm.

One belt-mounted personal shield. This energy shield can absorb a great deal of damage before falling and exposing Colin to it. However, Colin will almost never use this, and may even scrap it for parts, as its power requirements are phenomenal and could drain his micro-reactor dry in a very short time.

4 micro lasers, disguised as buttons on his jacket. These function as potently as a laser pistol, and are linked to the targeting system in Colin's eye. They can leave deep wounds, but possess no stopping power. Additionally, because of their size and their unique formation, each laser can only fire once before needing to be recalibrated. Colin designed them as a surprise weapon, meant to turn the tables in a pinch, not to serve as a long term weapon in a fire fight.
