Application

Before you app |
Applications are always open, but are processed every other Saturday. You can apply for any character from any canon as an OU or AU. You can also apply for an OCs. Be sure to copy the correct form below when you go to write your app. Currently there can be only one version of each character within the Bastion. That character can be either OU or AU. This is subject to change at a later date. The character limit is currently three. You can app up to two characters from the same canon, so long as the characters do not interact in canon and would not interact within the game. Exceptions to this rule will be allowed for special cases, so if you think you have a possible exception please contact a mod about it. If you would like to app a fourth character, you must have passed the previous two ACs in order to do so. If you did not pass the previous two ACs, then we will reject your application. Apps will be read in the order they are posted. If two people app the same character, we will make a decision on the first application before reading the second. The only exception to this rule is in the case of a reserve, where we will read the app from whoever has the reserve first. There are no app challenges. Please read the rules, FAQ, and setting pages before applying. Also be sure to check the reserves page and taken page. Please finish your app before posting. Once you are finished, post your application here. If you need more than one comment to post it, then respond to your first comment to finish your application. If your application is accepted, be sure to read all the information and follow all of the steps in the acceptance post. If we ask you for revisions, you will have 72 hours to post those revisions. If you are rejected, you must wait two weeks before applying again. As a note, OCs will be held to high standards. Do not skimp on details in any section of the application if you are planning to app an OC. |

Character name: Jason Grace
Series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians/Heroes of Olympus
Canon point: Post House of Hades
Summary:
Part 2
They couldn't get into much more discussion, since that was when the storm spirits attacked. The mortals were able to be taken to safety, but Jason, Coach Hedge, and the boy and girl from before (Leo Valdez and Piper McLean respectively) weren't so lucky. They were trapped on the skywalk with what looked like an evil angel made of storm clouds. Oh boy. A battle broke out, and by the end of it the Coach had been captured by the storm spirits. In the aftermath, a girl named Annabeth and a dude named Butch came to take them to Camp Half-Blood. It was then that they revealed that they were looking for a missing camper named Percy Jackson.
Well, immediately after the three of them got to camp, they were chosen to go on a quest to free Hera, Queen of the Gods, before the Winter Solstice. With her missing, it would throw the other gods in disarray and set them arguing. Jason, Piper, and Leo were expected to leave the next morning and make their way to Boreas' palace in Quebec. Boreas would be able to tell them where the storm spirits had gone, since one of them had mentioned being summoned by their mistress to return to base. Leo provided the transportation in the form of a bronze metal dragon the morning of the quest.
Going there had proved very fruitful. First, they learned that Aeolus had put out an order for all of the other winds to kill demigods on sight. Second, they learned that the storm spirits' base was in Chicago, of all places. Armed with this knowledge, the trio set off for Chicago! Unfortunately, Festus the bronze dragon crashed into an abandoned car manufacturing plant in Detroit. Even worse, it was a place where three Cyclopes lived. Piper and Jason got captured by them, though the guy was knocked unconscious for all of it. Leo had saved them from being eaten, and had fixed Festus so that they could resume the journey to Chicago. Jason, meanwhile, got a dream vision from Hera about a place called the Wolf House, which was where she was being held at. Not only that, but Gaea was using her power to cause the rise of the giant king Porphyrion.
When Jason woke up, he relayed that information to his two friends. They couldn't do much else about it, except to find the mistress who was controlling the storm spirits. Luckily, that wasn't the hard part. All they had to do was follow the storm spirits in Chicago, which led them to a sewer. The trio immediately went inside, and followed it to the end. The weird part? Not only was the sewer abnormally clean, but at the end of the tunnel there was an entrance to a department store. After entering the elevator, they took it to the top floor, where they were greeted by a weird saleswoman. She insisted on being called Your Majesty or Princess, and her words were charged with magic. Leo and Jason were helpless to her charm speak, which meant that it was up to Piper to save their sorry hides. It took a lot of frustration and desperation on Piper's part, but she was eventually able to break the spell over them and correctly identify the Princess as Medea, a mortal who should've been dead for thousands of years. Piper was the one who defeated Medea and accidentally blew up the department store, which they managed to escape thanks to Festus the amazing dragon.
They didn't leave the department store with nothing to show for, at least. Not only were they able to take the cage of trapped storm spirits, but they also found Coach Hedge! There was just one setback. Festus couldn't carry a load of two cages and three people. In fact, the poor dragon had to make another emergency crash landing into some guy's mansion's lawn. The security system on it was extremely advanced, with automatic lasers that could cut through celestial bronze and practically disintegrated Festus. The only thing Leo could save was his faithful dragon's head, which he asked his father, Hephaestus, to send back to camp.
The three of them had little choice but to enter the mansion. Leo was able to navigate them through the traps with ease, and they were able to crash in the entrance. It wasn't very long that Leo had sprung Coach Hedge's cage, which caused a ruckus. Before they could do much else besides bring the Coach up to speed, they were found by King Midas, another mortal who shouldn't be alive. Like Medea, he'd had a patron bring him back to life, and turned Leo and Piper to gold. Jason, though, challenged Midas' son to combat, and tricked the King into turning his son to gold.
After that lovely encounter, Jason and Hedge turned their friends back to flesh with the river nearby. Then, Jason used the storm spirits to get them to Colorado, where Aeolus' palace was going to dock on Pike's Peak. The four of them decided to make camp in a cave, since that was when they got hit with a snowstorm. There, Piper finally told them that her father had been taken by a giant named Enceladus. He'd told her that if she wanted to save her father, then she had to divert the quest to somewhere in the Bay Area in California. Instead of kicking Piper out or being angry with her, they just felt incredibly sorry for her and told her that they would help her get her father back. They just had to figure out a way to save both Piper's dad and Hera by the deadline.
They were interrupted by Lycaon, who was sent to kill the entire group, except for Jason. He said that Jason was spoken for already, and that he was just sent to retrieve him. It was going to be a hopeless battle if they tried to take on the King of Wolves and his pack, but luckily that was when the Hunters of Artemis started raining down their silver arrows on them. Lycaon made a getaway, and Thalia Grace, Jason's sister, appeared. After introductions were made, Jason, Thalia, and Leo discussed the Grace siblings' past. How their mother had been driven to insanity after learning that she'd attracted Zeus and Jupiter. How she'd offered Jason to the wolves at Hera's insistence when he was only two. How Thalia had left that household shortly after.
Afterward, the group set out, led by Thalia, to Aeolus' palace. While crossing the bridge of ice and wind, Leo shared the sudden thought that perhaps Jason's appearance and Percy's disappearance were meant to be an exchange of some sort. Perhaps there were two camps that historically couldn't get along very well. Thalia ran off to hold the Wolf House after that, excited with the news. It gave hope that Percy was alive, just somewhere else. Meanwhile, the quest group had to go see Aeolus about the storm spirits, among other things.
Once they met Aeolus, they were successfully able to deliver the storm spirits and get him to rescind the order to have demigods killed on sight. The four of them also learned that Enceladus was on Mount Diablo, but he had no idea where the Wolf House was exactly. There was strong magic obscuring the area where Hera was being held. Before the four of them could congratulate themselves on a job well done with gaining Aeolus' help to get them to Mount Diablo, the Master of the Winds got new orders from someone far more ancient and powerful than the Olympians. He used the storm spirits against them, but luckily with the help of a wind nymph named Melly, they were able to survive the encounter. It was also thanks to Melly that the four of them got landed in a city close to Mount Diablo.
Piper then told them that she'd been able to figure out some things in her dreams. She told them that their true adversary was Gaea, the Earth itself. Coach Hedge also told them some disturbing facts about Gaea, like how she used her son Kronos to kill Ouranos, the god of the sky and father of the Titans. After all of that, the group of four paid a cab to get as far up the mountain as they could, and then walked the rest of the way to where Enceladus was. Once there, it pretty quickly devolved into a fight for their lives. Jason took on Enceladus while Leo and Piper dealt with the Earth Born and getting Piper's dad to safety. He was only able to defeat the giant with the help of some godly lightning his father provided him. Most giants were only able to be killed with the combined power of a god and a hero, and Jason had proved that to be true.
After the battle, they noticed that a ranger helicopter was flying overhead, checking out the carnage. Piper managed to get the pilot to land and take them to the airport. She gave her father a potion to erase all of the memories of what had taken place, and then got an Iris Message from Thalia. She provided the final clue for Jason to remember where the Wolf House was. Coach Hedge decided to take Piper's dad home, and the rest of them took the helicopter to the Wolf House.
Upon reaching the Wolf House, they heard the sounds of battle all around them. Thalia came and collected them, then took them to where Hera was being kept. Unfortunately, they were then attacked by storm spirits, wolves, and a snow goddess named Khione. Once they'd won that battle, Leo and Piper started working on getting Hera free. The downside was that they were unable to prevent Porphyrion's rising. Jason took on the task of fighting the giant, if only to at least give his friends time to free Hera. They were able to free the goddess, and in thanks, she transported them back to Camp Half-Blood.
Back at camp, they all had a discussion on what they had to do next. Leo had been assigned with the task of building the Argo II, a flying Greek trireme with Festus' head serving as its control center. They planned on setting off on the Summer Solstice, where the powers of the gods would be strongest. In the meantime, they would have to keep up the search for Percy, and Jason would work on getting his memories back. After all, Jason was the only one who knew the location of the Roman camp, where Percy would no doubt be. It was the entire point of Hera's exchange of leaders from both camps.
All in all, it took until near the end of June before Jason, Piper, Leo, and Annabeth made it to Camp Jupiter. There, they met up with the last three of the seven demigods needed for their quest: Percy, Hazel Levesque, and Frank Zhang. Things were going well, until Leo opened fire on the Roman camp. Jason was knocked unconscious for most of this, but after Leo did repairs on their ship, Piper suggested they go to Topeka, Kansas. She'd had a vision in her knife about Bacchus, or Dionysus.
Once they reached their destination, Jason, Percy, and Piper headed out to meet up with Bacchus. Piper was suddenly struck with an epiphany after talking to the god. She figured out that they needed Bacchus in particular to help them defeat the twin giants, Otis and Ephialtes. Unfortunately, the god disagreed, and then fled when he realized he'd been led to a trap. Gaea told Piper to choose willingly between Percy or Jason, or she'd choose for the daughter of Aphrodite. When Piper refused, Jason and Percy got possessed by evil spirits, and then tried to fight to the death.
Luckily, they got KO'd big time by Percy's pegasus friend, Black Jack, and suffered no serious damage. With Black Jack's help, Piper was able to get the two unconscious demigods back to the ship. After they woke up, they all held a meeting, and during that meeting Piper was able to get the spirits to not only vacate the bodies of Jason, Percy, and Leo, but to make them swear a binding oath to never possess anyone on the ship. After that, they went to Atlanta, Georgia to get some information out of an old sea god.
That was a job for Coach Hedge, Frank, and Percy. When they got back, they told them that the next place they needed to go was to Charleston. Jason said that there were two possible places that would be important to them, since Annabeth was following the Mark of Athena. One was an old ship from the Civil War, and the other was a park where a ghost would only show itself to girls. Jason, Leo, and Frank went to see the ship, while the three ladies went off to find the ghost. Unfortunately, on the way back to the ship, they got attacked by the Romans that Leo pissed off. There was a huge battle at Fort Sumter, but the seven were able to get away mostly intact. Annabeth had also been successful with getting what she would need to follow the Mark of Athena in Rome, Italy.
Finally, the group was on their way to Rome. Near the end of their journey, they had to deal with Hercules, since he was the gatekeeper of the ancient lands. Piper and Jason went to talk to him, but when Jason told Hercules that they were on a quest by Hera's orders, the asshole sent them to get the last horn of plenty from a nearby river god. The two of them were able to get it, but they refused to give it to Hercules. After tricking him to allow them into the ancient lands, Piper buried him in a mountain of food and they were able to get away safely. Despite Hercules throwing coconuts at them at high velocity.
Part 3
After some time past, Jason and Percy convinced Piper to take a look in her dagger to see where Nico was. They couldn't wait for Hazel's group to check in with them, not when Nico was close to dying that day. Luckily, they were able to find the son of Hades, and the trio made their way there. Jason, Piper, and Percy soon confronted the twin giants, who released Nico from the bronze jar he'd been held in for about a week. When the fighting started, Jason took on Otis, Percy went to take on Ephialtes, and Piper went to get Nico to safety.
The only downside to all of that was that they couldn't defeat the giants without a god's help. Right as the twin giants started to regroup, Bacchus made an appearance. He told Jason and Percy that he would help only if they proved to him that they deserved his assistance. Bacchus magically remade the Coliseum, complete with ghostly audience, and had the twin giants, Jason, and Percy fight each other again. Instead of splitting up, the two decided to team up. It was working well, but Ephialtes managed to beat them down. Yet, luck was on their side! Leo and the others, minus Annabeth, had gotten back to the Argo II and landed the ship right on Ephialtes' head. Bacchus finished off the giants, and warned Percy that his journey was going to be a hard one.
Now that they were mostly reunited, they set a course for Annabeth's location, which Bacchus had also kindly provided them. Nico informed them that the Doors of Death were located in Tartarus and in the House of Hades, which was in a place called Epirus in Greece. He also said that they could only fully be out of Gaea's control if they could close both sides of the Doors. Unfortunately, Gaea's full force was in Tartarus, guarding the Doors of Death there, while another force guarded the mortal side.
They finally reached Annabeth's location, as well as the Athena Parthenos, an ancient, magical statue that could heal the rift between the Greek and Roman camps. The thing about the place they were in was that it was an entrance to Tartarus. The only reason it wasn't sucking up everything in sight was because the floor was held together with marble and spider silk from Arachne. Unfortunately, it was getting extremely weak, which was why the statue started falling into the abyss. Everyone started securing the statue into the ship, but Annabeth was being dragged into Tartarus. Her ankle had been covered in spider silk, which was attached to Arachne, who was falling into Tartarus. Percy grabbed her, but knew that they couldn't pull her up, so he fell with her after making Nico promise to lead everyone else to Epirus.
Once the demigods regrouped on the ship, they decided to meet up with their fallen friends in the House of Hades and prayed that there was a possibility of the two getting out alive.
So it took them about two weeks to get to the first place they needed to go. Leo had tried going over the mountains and into Greece, but earth spirits prevented them from going that way. Hazel, however, had met with Hecate at a crossroads, and decided to take the route she suggested. So, their first stop was Bologna, Italy, where they were to meet a couple of dwarves who had an item that they would need. According to Hecate, the item would help them getting the knowledge to survive the House of Hades.
Well, before they could land in Bologna, the dwarves found them. They'd bound and gagged Coach Hedge and Piper, who were steering the Argo II. Then the dwarves proceeded to steal every shiny thing they could get their hands on. This included Piper's dagger, Leo's Archimedes Sphere and magic tool belt, and possibly some other things. It helped the dwarves quite a bit when Leo's new invention, a sound grenade, went off and incapacitated the demigods. Poor Frank got the worst of it, since he'd been in gorilla shape, and got knocked out cold. Jason took Leo and flew off to find the stupid dwarves and get their stuff back. It was going alright, until Jason got caught in a trap set by the twins. Ugh.
Anyway, Leo saved the day before Jason could get there. They got their stuff back and they also got some sort of Farmer's Almanac that the dwarves had stolen from a minor god. According to them, the minor god was in Venice, Italy. When the duo got back to the ship, they set sail for Venice.
Once there, it was Frank, Hazel, and Nico who went to deliver the Almanac to the minor god. When they got back, they brought barley that they'd need to make into crackers. It turned out that in order to even enter the deeper levels of the House of Hades, they would need to drink a deadly poison. The only way to not die from it, hopefully, was to eat the barley so that it soaked up and neutralized the worst of it. The demigods then decided to plot a course for Epirus to finally save Percy and Annabeth.
Unfortunately (and typically with their awful, awful luck), they were waylaid by a monstrously gigantic fuck-off turtle. It forced them to dock on a nearby island, and just to make matters worse, they got a note that basically told them to bring all their valuables to the top of a cliff. If they didn't, then they'd die. Wonderful.
Jason and Hazel were the ones who went up to meet the bandit. The guy was called Sciron, a demigod who got brought back to life by Gaea. Generally, he killed his victims by making them wash his feet, and while they did that he would kick them off the cliff and into his giant turtle's mouth. Hazel, fortunately, was able to create an illusion to trick Sciron into thinking that he was going to win, when in reality she just manipulated the bandit into a position where Jason would drop down from the sky and kick him into the giant turtle's mouth. How was that for poetic justice?
While they finally got back on track, Jason got KO'd, plummeted to the unforgiving waters below him, and had a dream vision. His dream basically told him that Percy and Annabeth were still alive, and that Reyna was going to meet them at the House of Hades. He also remembered that he needed to go somewhere first, since the two praetors had promised each other it would be the first thing they did if they ever went to the ancient lands. Thanks to his wonderful girlfriend, he was able to wake up before dying and flew back onto the ship to tell everyone about the dream. So, they made a slight detour to Split, Croatia. He told them that there was a legend about Diocletian's scepter being buried with the Emperor's body, and Nico informed the others that the scepter could raise dead legionnaires and make a big difference in the House of Hades.
So, when they got to Split, it was just Jason and Nico out to get an OP scepter. They were led to the tomb by tailing after some angel looking dude, and then angel dude turned out to be the God of the West Wind, Zephyrus/Favonius. Favonius informed them that Eros/Cupid had the scepter, now, and that Nico would need to confront Cupid in order for them to get it. They agreed, of course, and it turned out to be far more than Jason expected. The son of Hades was forced to admit that he had feelings for Percy in front of Cupid and Jason. Afterward, the son of Jupiter was sworn to secrecy and he set out on a mini quest to prove to Nico that he would be the kid's friend. The duo did get the scepter, but they were not as excited to get it as they were when they started.
To make matters worse, sometime after they got back to the Argo II, they got blown off-course because of Khione using a little bomb. The bomb didn't cause an explosion, oh no. It released a pent up force of North Winds. Piper, bless her soul, managed to defeat the snow goddess and her allies, and she made sure the bomb didn't blow them severely off-course when it went off. Unfortunately, they lost Leo, since Khione kind of sent him somewhere else. Spiteful witch.
So, they got blown over to the palace of the God of the South Wind, Auster/Notus. He then had a confrontation with Nico, which...almost ended with a dead son of Jupiter. That kid was scary when he was mad. After that, he got to meet with Auster again. They'd been trying to negotiate for almost a week at that point, and Jason was getting fed up with that nonsense. Auster, however, taught Jason a lesson that, as a son of Jupiter, he had to command the winds, not let them do whatever they wanted or go wherever they took him. So, Jason commanded the god to give them aid, and tamed some South Wind brand storm spirit horses.
The storm spirits took them all the way to Malta, where they reunited with Leo. Leo was uncharacteristically silent on where he'd been and how he'd gotten there, but Jason didn't push it. With all of them back together again, they finally set sail for their final destination: Epirus, Greece.
When the demigods got there, it was surprisingly...easy. They got through the first part, after a little game of "do you trust me, Grace" with Nico and the poison. It was while they were navigating the next room that things got...difficult. Basically, they got ambushed. Leo and Hazel were separated from the group, and the two were forced to go ahead without the others. The others, meanwhile, had a battle to win. When Nico used the scepter, Jason couldn't order the dead to do anything. He then resigned his position and made Frank his replacement, realizing that he was no longer Roman.
After all of that nonsense, the group made it just in time to help Hazel, Hecate, and Leo in defending a semi-conscious Percy and Annabeth against a giant called Clytius. They beat him soundly, got the hell out of dodge, and met up with Reyna at the surface. The demigods swapped stories, determined that Coach Hedge, Reyna, and Nico would take the Athena Parthenos back to Camp Half-Blood, and the Seven got ready to leave Epirus on a course for Mount Olympus for their final battle against Gaea.
That was about when the worlds shattered and Jason was brought to the Bastion. Welp.
Personality: Jason is viewed as a guy who does things by the book, and is generally referred to as a "golden boy." He follows the rules and he's looked up to as a natural leader. Even Nico, who generally does his own thing, has followed Jason's orders without much question. He takes this role very seriously as a result, making sure his decisions on a course of action are weighed before making a commitment. Jason tries to not let these expectations of him soil his good humor and general cheer, and neither does he complain when they're thrust upon him. He takes it and attempts to make the best of it.
He's the kind of kid who just can't give up on people, and takes it hard when he loses someone. In Mark of Athena, he blames himself for not going back to get Percy and Annabeth. Jason doesn't lose hope of the duo making it out of Tartarus alive, though. In fact, he tries to convince people that they will make it out. As for giving up on people, that's simply not an option to Jason. After Piper confesses to Enceladus' demands in The Lost Hero, Jason refuses to relent on finding a possible solution to save both her father and Hera. This is also just an example of how stubborn as a mule this kid can be. Perhaps the best example of his stubbornness is when he makes the conscious decision to befriend Nico di Angelo in House of Hades. Jason makes it a point to tell him that he is a friend, and that he trusts the son of Hades. He not only drinks poison to prove it, but he also promotes Frank Zhang to praetor rank on Nico's suggestion during a battle.
Many people will assume that Jason is a by-the-book all the time kind of guy. This is certainly not the case. Jason follows the rules, yes, but he also has no problems bending them or actively trying to change them around. In House of Hades, he mentions trying to change the name of the Thirteenth Legion into the First Legion, but gives up on the idea because of the backlash he receives on it. So now, he tries changing things in the Roman camp subtly and with small steps, working toward his big goal of changing the name. Jason even thinks of incorporating some Greek ideas into the Roman structure. He's also very sarcastic, at least in his head if he can't (or shouldn't) say it aloud.
Now, he's a very smart guy, he really is. Jason just sometimes has a habit of sticking his foot in his mouth. For instance, he once tells Piper in Mark of Athena that she can talk Reyna, someone who very clearly held romantic feelings for him, into joining their side. Pretty tactless when someone asks their girlfriend to talk to someone heartbroken over losing their crush to someone else, right? He does apologize for it the moment he gets a chance to talk to his girlfriend in private, which redeems him.
Jason has a habit of not letting things drop. In The Lost Hero, he spends a lot of time asking about what's going on with Piper's dad. He knows that he's in trouble, but that's maddeningly all he knows. Even in House of Hades, Jason keeps telling Nico that he'll be accepted in their group. He even goes so far as to call Nico out on running away from his problems more often than not. The only reason he drops that topic of conversation is because he doesn't want to push Nico too far. Jason is pretty sure that will be extremely bad for his health.
Perhaps his most obvious flaw is how he tends to take the weight of the world's problems on his shoulders. Piper usually calls him out on it in a gentle way, reminding Jason that there are people who can help him carry that burden. During Mark of Athena, Jason comments that he's not used to being part of a group of equals. He's very much used to people looking at him as the leader, the guy who makes the decisions and is generally very powerful because he's Jupiter's son. Now, he's part of a group of six other kids who have abilities just as powerful. He hints that perhaps this quest to defeat Gaea will help him really understand what "teamwork" means.
Finale
Always On: Jason has a high resistance to electricity, since he's the son of Jupiter. It'll knock him off his feet and will cause him some pain, but it won't kill him. In canon, he has survived enough voltage to kill at least 20 men. Jason can also cause damage and kill beings that are considered air elementals, such as storm spirits, where normally people have a hard time even hitting them.
Unfortunately, there are some things he does that he has no control over. For example, when feeling an intense emotion, his body starts discharging static electricity as naturally as a person releasing sweat from their pores.
Limited: He can control the winds in a way that basically allows him to fly like a blond Superman/Peter Pan. Now, normally, he can only carry one other person. Two people is hard for even a short distance. Also, the heavier the person or whatever he's carrying is, the more concentration it requires of him to stay aloft.
Another ability he has is controlling the air pressure, but only in an enclosed space. In canon, Jason has dropped the air pressure in a room of King Midas' mansion. This doesn't mean he's immune to the effects of it, because he still is. His ears will pop and he will go unconscious if it gets too low.
Jason is also able to summon lightning, as long as nothing is blocking his powers or if they're protected by materials that can't conduct electricity. In canon, he can do this once every few hours because summoning lightning takes a lot of energy from him. As such, Jason tends to use this ability sparingly.
One last thing is that when he teams up with Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, they're able to create a storm between the two of them. They can only do this once a day, as it drains a lot of energy.
Entry: Jason can be found on the Skyway!
Other: He's a shocker.
