Activity Checks

Activity checks will be held once every two months, each covering a two-month period. The check itself will come at the very end of the second month, and will remain open for a week. Activity requirements For each character, you must supply the following: - 15 comments from your character within one calendar month, from a maximum of three threads - 20 comments from your character within one calendar month, from a maximum of four threads These will add up to a total of 35 comments for each activity period. Passing/Partial Pass In order to pass AC, every one of your characters currently in the game must meet all of the requirements. Any characters who can meet one of the requirements, but not both, is given a 'partial pass'. This means that you will still be able to play the character, but you must meet the full requirements for them in the next AC period, or else they will be dropped from the game. If you cannot make any of the requirements with a character, please message the mods before the activity check starts! We can talk about your options then. If you wait until the AC starts to message us, your options will be much more limited. If you cannot make any of the requirements with a character and you do not contact us, that character will be dropped from the game. Additionally, anyone who fails to comment to the AC by the end of the second month will be dropped from the game. Hiatus The Bastion only allows hiatuses of up to one month, exempting extreme circumstances. Since a hiatus might not fall neatly into calendar months, the activity requirements will be modified as follows: Less than 10 days: no change to activity requirements. 10-21 days: You must still provide 35 comments total per character, but they can come from any time during the activity period, from a maximum of seven threads. 22-31 days: You must provide a total of 25 comments per character, from five threads. This time is cumulative. So, if you were to hiatus for 9 days in month one, and 14 days in month two, that would count as 23 days total. New characters If a character is accepted within the first month of the activity period, then they only need to provide half of the AC requirement to pass. So, either 15 comments over three threads max, or 20 comments over four threads max. If a character is accepted within the second month of the activity period, then they do not need to provide activity at all for that activity period. Activity and apping a fourth character In order to app a fourth character into the game, you must have completely passed the two previous activity checks with all of your characters. This means partial passes do not count.

Activity Check FAQ

Which comments are counted for the activity check? Comments made by your character within the appropriate time period count for activity. Additionally, only comments posted to thebastion can be used for activity. When is the activity check posted? The activity check will always be posted exactly one week before the end of the second month within the activity period. You will have until 11:59 pm EST on the last day of the second month to respond with your activity. An 'end of the AC' post will be made within the first couple days of the next activity period, stating who was swept in the AC. Does it matter which month gets 15 comments and which month gets 20? No. You can choose which month within the activity period is which. So in one check, you might do 15 comments for the first and 20 for the second, but for the next check you might do 20 comments for the first month and 15 for the second. Do posts count for the comment count? Yes. The person who made the post can count the post for 1 of the 35 comments required for activity. Do the dates on a post matter? Yes. While we do encourage backthreading, comments for activity must come from a post made within the activity period. For the comments themselves, they must be made within the month they are being counted for. So, comments made within the second month on a post from the first month of an activity period will count for the second month of activity, but comments made within the first month on a post from the previous activity period will not count for the first month of activity. Is there a minimum number of comments required per thread? Currently, no. As long as it fits within the maximum number of threads, any number of comments per thread is fine. What about times where a tag is broken up into several comments? How are those counted? Generally speaking, it will all count as just one 'comment' for activity purposes. This is mostly to cover situations where a character might give several 'reaction face posts' before actually doing anything in the final comment. However, if you feel you have a situation that would work differently, feel free to contact us. Does passing or failing activity affect my ability to participate in events? For most cases, no. We know everyone has their bad months, so failing a check (or getting a partial pass) will not affect your ability to participate in events. We currently have no plans to exclude anyone from events based on their activity level. That said, we are saying 'for most cases' just in case a rare situation where it does matter shows up. We do not expect that to happen during the course of this game, though, and if it does we will be sure to make note of it in an appropriate location. Does failing AC prevent me from apping? Provided you respond to the activity check or contact us in private about it beforehand, no. However, if you do not respond to the activity check at all AND you do not drop the character on your own, this will be considered as 'idling out'. If you idle out, this will affect your ability to app into the Bastion in the future. Can I re-apply for a character that I failed AC with? Yes, but you must wait for one app period to pass before you can do so. Also, you can only do this once. If you fail AC with a specific character twice, then you cannot apply for them again. OKAY THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT CAME UP WHILE I WAS WORKING ON TRACKING ACTIVITY FOR MY CHARACTERS IN GAME, SO. TIME TO ASK.

For new characters, does the activity has to come specifically from a certain month of activity? Because the way it's worded in the post, it sounds like you could use either the first or the second month for AC if you've built up enough comments from the first month of activity - when the character was approved.

Your character does not have to provide activity for first month of the activity period (July, in this case), since they were accepted into the game during that month. The character will have to provide activity for the month after, though. So, 15 comments over three threads maximum, or 20 comments over four threads maximum for the month of August will be needed for your character when the Activity Check happens. Comments from July will not be accepted in place of August activity.

Another question because it came up while I was putting together my activity tracker!

I have threads where the comments start in the first month of activity, but then end up spilling over into the second month. So... for example, I started a thread in March, but continued commenting well into April.

Can we split the threads up into comments for both March and April, or would the comments all be automatically March since the thread was started in March even though I continued commenting into April?

( I apologize in advance if this question was already answered but my brain sucks at remembering things when deadlines are approaching. :|; )
