It was an accident |
Few people knew the details behind what caused the Calamity. Anyone who knew surely perished long ago. The few survivors that remained, all they knew was that it had come in a time of relative peace. The war had ended years ago, and there were no more conflicts along the borders. Nobody knew the peace would end, not until the night sky lit up with the light of a thousand suns. In that instant, the world was changed. Walls fell, cities crumbled, entire continents were ripped away. Anyone who wasn't instantly vaporized was turned to stone, their faces permanently twisted in pain and horror. The few who survived risked falling into nothingness as the ground gave out beneath them. Nothing escaped the Calamity. |
No world was spared |
The damage didn't stop with just one world. The Calamity went beyond worlds, into entirely different dimensions. World after world was ripped apart, leaving behind only rubble and flames. It's hard to say just how far the Calamity went. Maybe every world was consumed. The only thing anyone knows for sure is that the lands left behind are not safe. Monsters roam what's left of the lands, taking up residence in the remains of towns and cities. Any people who survived the initial blast are still far from safety. Their only hope for survival is to find others like themselves and regroup. |
The Bastion has the answers |
The Bastion is a fail-safe, a sanctuary against any wars or destruction that humanity might face. It is the one place that has survived the Calamity mostly intact and free of monsters. It is a beacon of hope for all living beings, and it is the last chance anyone has. The Bastion isn't merely a safe home, though. It was constructed by the same people who caused the Calamity, and it is full of secrets. Perhaps, with the right hands at work, the secrets of the Bastion can be unlocked, and the truth behind the Calamity can finally be revealed. |
