Bestiary |
This is a list of all the monsters that will appear on the Skyway. Please check back here often, as this list will be updated as the game progresses. Each monster has a difficulty rating, ranging from 1 to 10. A rating of 1 or 2 is very easy to defeat, and even characters who have no fighting experience should be able to defeat those monsters easily. 3-5 are a bit tougher, and some basic weapons training may be necessary. 6 and 7 are even more difficult, though one well-trained fighter may still be able to overcome these monster. For less-skilled characters, a group is necessary. 8 and 9 are very difficult, and one character on their own may have trouble defeating them. Groups are recommended for this level of difficulty, even with trained fighters present. Monsters with a difficulty rating of 10 are special cases, and will not be encountered normally within the game. This rating is reserved for boss fights, and large groups are required to overcome these monsters. Unless noted otherwise, players are free to NPC any monsters from this list on the Skyway. |
Old World Monsters |
This section is for monsters that have come from the Old World. |
Windbags |
Windbags are a family of monsters that originally lived underground in Burstone Quarry. Surviving windbags surfaced after the Calamity and began competing for Cores. There are three types of Windbags: Squirt - Squirts are one of the most common of the enemies encountered on the Skyway. They are about a foot in length and just shy of a foot tall. They resemble a tadpole with a smaller tail. They lived underground until The Calamity forced them out. They have little life, but appear in mobs. Difficulty: 1/10 (3/10 in a mob of 5 or more) // Shards: 1 each Gasfella - Gasfella are larger and more developed than Squirts. They are larger, about the size of a human, and have a distinct head and arms. Their body still ends in a tail, though. Gasfella often carry around weapons they find on the ground, though they are not the best at wielding them. Difficulty: 3/10 // Shards: 5 each Scumbag - Scumbags are a blob-like Monster that are part of the Windbag family. They are the oldest of Windbags, and resemble the balloon part of a hot-air balloon. They are about the size of a large car, and they spit out acidic goo at their enemies as a self-defense mechanism. Difficulty: 5/10 // Shards: 15 each |
Pecker |
Peckers are bird-like monsters, about the size of a large dog. They are easily recognizable for their red and black feathers and razor sharp claws. Out on the Skyway they will attempt to knock characters off of the paths, letting them fall to their doom. Difficulty: 4/10 // Shards: 10 each |
Swampweed |
Swampweeds are variously colored bulbed flowers that have their bulbs closed. When a character steps on one or destroys it with a melee weapon, it will explode and leave behind a stationary cloud of poison. Difficulty: 2/10 // Shards: 3 each |
Pincushion |
Pincushions are a family of sentient, stationary flora that grows the Wild. There are 3 types of Pincushions: Purple - Once a character steps in range of a purple Pincushion, it will immediately fire a round of spikes, tracking the character's movements. Their projectile speed is very high, and attacks are continuous. Difficulty: 3/10 // Shards: 3 each Green - Green pincushions fire projectiles outward in 8 directions. They do not attempt to track the characters in any way. They do not pause unless all characters step out of their range. Difficulty: 2/10 // Shards: 3 each Blue - Blue Pincushions behave very similarly to purple pincushions, but are approximately half their size and their firing accuracy is notably more scattered than the purple Pincushions. Their reload time is the shortest compared to all other varieties of Pincushions, including purple ones. Difficulty: 3/10 // Shards: 3 each |
Lungblossom |
Lungblossoms emit a hallucinogenic gas said to drive the weaker-willed insane. They remain still for the most part; they fire what is presumably fungus at whatever victim is within the proximity. Note: approaching the Lungblossom is not recommended, as the hallucinogenic gas has paralyzing properties. Fight at a distance. Difficulty: 5/10 // Shards: 10 each |
New World Monsters |
These are monsters that either come from worlds besides the Old World or were created by the Bastion. |
Mammoths |
Large creatures that can be devoured and herded. Giants did so in Skyrim, but, for the most part unless someone else decides to intervene, Paarthurnax will do the minimum of watching over them and making sure they don't fall off the edge. At most, they will be in herds of four and fairly docile so long as they are not attacked. They'll eat whatever vegetation they can find on the Open Plains, where they'll generally be kept. Anyone who wants to try can milk them, and the milk can be used to make cheese. In game, it's possible to get meat and tusks from them, but in the Bastion the rest of their body (hide, other bones, etc) can also be presumably used. Difficulty: 2/10 // Shards: none |
tiny dragons |
They're about a foot tall, and can breathe little puffs of fire (but not much, and don't unless they're scared). Personality-wise they're like skittish cats. Difficulty: 1/10 // Shards: none |
